How M&A bankers describe themselves on their resumes

You work in M&A and are wondering which resume words to use to describe your personality and effervescent enthusiasm for building complex financial models at 2am. Wonder no more. We’ve looked at millions of M&A resume examples in the eFinancialCareers database and have identified the 10 terms that M&A bankers globally use most frequently when expounding upon their talents.

 

Listed in order of precedence, they are:

1. “Focused”

As in, “I am very focused on achieving the best possible outcome for my clients.”

2. “Ability”

As in, “I have an exceptional ability for creating complex pivot tables.”

3. “Leadership”

As in, “Under my leadership, the team completed a complex transaction in under five days.”

4. “Analytical”

As in, “I am a diligent, analytical individual.”

5. “Interpersonal” and “interpersonal skills”

As in, “I am a diligent, analytical individual with excellent interpersonal skills.”

6. “Excellence”

As in, “I am devoted to achieving excellence in everything that I do.”

7. “Creative”

As in, “I am a creative problem-solver.”

8. “Exceptional”

As in, “I have an exceptional ability for creating complex pivot tables.” (See 2.)

9. “Integrity”

As in, “I am a diligent, analytical individual with excellent interpersonal skills and integrity.”

10. “Entrepreneurial” 

As in, “I am a diligent, analytical, entrepreneurial individual with excellent interpersonal skills and integrity, also.”
