Jetzt ist es offiziell. Die US-Investmentbank Morgan Stanley hat die Liste ihrer frisch ernannten Managing Directors veröffentlicht. Bei diesen Beförderungen handelt es sich um ein Nadelöhr in der Karriereentwicklung. Während viele Investmentbanker in ihrer beruflichen Laufbahn zum Vice President ernannt werden, schaffen es nur wenige zum Managing Director, was einer Abteilungsleiterposition gleichkommt.
In 2015 hat die Bank 151 Beförderungen ausgesprochen. Im Vorjahr waren es mit 153 nur unwesentlich mehr. Doch welche Lehren lassen sich aus den Beförderungen für Finanzprofis mit Karriereambitionen ziehen? Wir haben die Liste durchgeschaut.
Dabei fällt auf, dass die Chance auf einen Aufstieg an den großen angelsächsischen Investmentbanking-Zentren deutlich höher zu liegen scheint als im vergleichbar kleinen Frankfurt. So wurden in London allein 36 Mitarbeiter zu MDs ernannt; im Vorjahr waren es noch 27 gewesen. In Frankfurt indes ließ sich keine einzige Beförderung mit Sicherheit nachweisen. Morgan Stanley Deutschland wollte hierzu keine Stellung nehmen.
Global gesehen schnitten im vergangenen Jahr die IT-Positionen bei den Beförderungen besonders gut ab. Dieses Jahr sind es Front Office-Positionen.
